1The Challenge
Split needed to launch quickly with multiple merchants, each having unique requirements and payment flows. The platform had to handle high-value transactions (iPhone launches), scale rapidly, and maintain strong unit economics while processing thousands of BNPL loans daily.
2Our Solution
Product0to1 built Split's backend infrastructure using NestJS for the API layer and React for the frontend, all deployed on AWS. Our approach was strategic and adaptive:
- Flexible Infrastructure: Initially deployed separate infrastructure for each merchant to accommodate unique payment flows and business logic
- Scalable Backend: Built with NestJS to handle high transaction volumes with robust error handling and retry mechanisms
- Infrastructure Optimization: After validating product-market fit, consolidated multiple merchant infrastructures into a unified, cost-efficient system
- AWS Architecture: Leveraged AWS services for auto-scaling, security, and reliability to handle traffic spikes during major launches
